Nascar penalized JGR’s 18 and 20 Nationwide teams 8/20 for the infractions over the last weekend. Both crew chiefs, car chiefs, and another team member were suspended indefinately. The crew chiefs were fined 50,000, the teams, drivers lost 150 points and the whole teams including drivers Tony Stewart and Joey Logano were placed on probation until December 31st.
I have no problem with most of the penalties but I do not agree with Tony and Joey being included. There is no way they knew what was going on. I can understand the points but not the probation part. It is also not clear if this probation is for all Nascar Series’, or just Nationwide.

What does Tony have to do to get a win? Any one that knows me knows I am a Kyle Busch fan. While I would like to have seen Kyle staying out, Tony really deserved the win. This week’s race was crazy. Junior’s wreck with Jaime McMurrey, Kyle and Juan Pablo Montoya’s deal. I don’t know what Juan was thinking. I am the first one to admit that Kyle is an aggressive driver, but the video replay only confirms what Kyle said. Maybe instead of being mad and wrecking Kyle, Juan should have a conversation with Dario. If Dario hadn’t basically stopped in front of Kyle he wouldn’t have had to dive to the middle to keep from slamming into Dario and destroying both cars. It’s funny how Juan went from being hated to now being cheered all because he took a cheap shot at Kyle. You would think any driver would think about their own points situation before doing something so careless. I am sure Jr Nation loved it, but maybe they should think about this. What happens when Juan decides to do that to Jr? Obviously he has no respect for points leaders and wouldn’t care one bit to take Jr out. At least the Richmond incident was two guys racing hard for a position not someone being stupid under caution.
The Dale Jr, Jaime thing in my opinion was both of their faults. Jaime’s spotter should have been telling him Jr was down there, but Jr should have been down on the access road for the pits.
Congrats to Kurt Busch on winning, My four year old niece was really happy since he’s her favorite driver. Hopefully this will help turn his season around. This is about the time Kurt kicked into overdrive last year.

Silly Season is going strong again. This year there are more high profile drivers in the mix. It’s not just the Dale Jr, Kyle Busch like last year. Last week it was announced that Clint Bowyer and Greg Biffle have resigned with their current teams. Now we still have Mark Martin, Casey Mears, Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart left. Everyone seems to be waiting on Tony. I guess the rest will settle after his deal is announced. The way Silly Season has been going for the past couple of years really get’s me thinking. Are there any sports left where people want to stay with one team? It seems like when things get tough people jump and leave or go with the money. I understand that Tony wants to think about when he retires which is smart, but why not stay with JGR contend for championships and do the ownership thing later. Why would you want to buy into Haas/CNC? They are not even close to winning.
On to Mark Martin. I believe Mark will sign with Hendrick to drive the 5. I do think he wants one more shot at the Championship. That truely is the only thing missing from his successfull career. Well maybe also winning the Daytona 500. He has done everything else. Maybe they want him for one year to try and get Tony in that car after that. If Joe Gibbs doesn’t let Tony out of his contract early that may be what happens.
I am not sure where Casey will end up. I think Tony will have to sign before Casey or Ryan end up with deals. Unless Ryan goes to Haas/CNC with Tony like one of the rumors says. Maybe Casey will end up back at Ganassi replacing Reed. Reed hasn’t done well, but of I was Ganassi I would be replacing Dario. At least Reed makes the races.
